A Strong Start for the RoboGrizzlies

Canadian International School of Guangzhou 2026-11-04 16:25:46

October 9, 55 RoboGrizzlies travelled to Shenzhen for their first robotics competition of the 2026–2027 season! Representing CIS were 3 VEX V5 and 5 VEX IQ Academy teams. We also had our 4 VEX IQ Innovator teams join us, all ready for a full day of teamwork matches, skills challenges, and exciting competition!

For our Innovator teams, this was an invaluable first competition experience. Students gained firsthand knowledge of game rules, scoring systems, match procedures, and competition routines while learning from other teams and observing different strategies.

Meanwhile, our IQ and V5 Academy teams had the opportunity to put months of building, programming, and driving practice into action, delivering impressive performances and making a strong start to the season!

VEX IQ Highlights

Teams 54037D, 54037E, 54037P, and 54037B scored well in our qualification matches - leading them to advance to the finals among the top 20 teams.

Teams 54037D and 54037E secured the top two positions in the qualification matches and earned the highest scores in finals, securing first.

Team 54037E earned 1st place in the Skills Challenge, while Team 54037Z achieved 3rd place.

VEX V5 Highlights

Team 89944C delivered an outstanding performance, winning the V5 Finals.

Beyond the awards and rankings, this scrimmage was an opportunity for all our students to collaborate, adapt their strategies, solve problems under pressure, and learn from the wider robotics community.

But the hard work doesn't stop here! Our RoboGrizzlies are already back in the lab refining their robot builds, enhancing their autonomous programs, and sharpening their driving strategies as they prepare for a busy competition season ahead.

Congratulations to all students for their perseverance, teamwork, and dedication. What a fantastic start to the season!
