CIS Application checklist and process / How to apply
CIS is an international school and students who hold a foreign passport, including those from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, are eligible for admissions. If you are unsure if your child is eligible to apply, please contact the Admissions Office before you begin the application process. We're here to help!
This Application Checklist includes what documents that we need for your application and explains our admissions process. All applications are subject to seat availability, assessment and ability to adapt to our programs and curriculum.

To apply, the following are required:
Application form – to be completed and signed.
Picture – one recent picture of the applicant (student)
Student’s foreign passport – a copy of the passport information page
Parents’ passports – a copy of each parent’s passport information page
School Records. This must include but not limited to:
- Report cards* from recent year(s) and/or transcripts (* current school year plus full year reports from previous school years)
- Standardized achievement test scores, if available
Application Processing Fee RMB 2,000 – non-refundable or not-transferable; for review of application, interview and one test
Review and Assessment
Admissions Test – Students are required to take an English admissions test and participate in an oral interview as part of the qualification process.
Admissions Notice – On completion of the admissions documents and review process, you will be notified in writing of the notice for admissions.
Learning Support – For students who require additional learning support for subject areas or ELL (English Language Learning), we will assess these needs on an individual, at-need basis to determine the availability of these services for your child.
If you are living overseas or in another province in China, please contact us as soon as you know about your possible relocation in Guangzhou. We will receive the required documents of the applicants from overseas and other province in China by email attachment. The interview may be scheduled online or during your visit in Guangzhou.
Once we have received the application form and all supporting documents, we will review your application. CIS reserves the right to make admissions decisions based on the information provided in the application and the assessment results, which will indicate that the international student recruitment can achieve at a level to be successful at our school.

As an international school serving the needs of a transient community, we are used to dealing with applications and arrivals at all points during the school year.
Whether you think you may be relocating to Guangzhou in the future, or if you live here already and are just exploring alternatives, we welcome you to contact us. We are happy to help with even the most tentative of enquiries, so please do not hesitate to contact us. We can arrange personal tours for parents or families at any point throughout the year.
If you do visit, you will be shown around the school by a member of our Admissions Team and, in most cases, join a friendly personal meeting with a relevant head of school or a senior member of teaching staff. a relevant leadership team member or our teaching staff. During the visit, you will have the chance to see the children in their classrooms, meet our heads of school principals, explore our beautiful campus, gain some further information on the school and ask any questions you may have.
Families are encouraged to visit the school as part of the application process, but for families living far away, we appreciate that this is not always possible. If you are overseas, please inform the CIS Admissions Team in advance, so that we can send you enough information regarding your relocation.

Notes:
Tuition is paid annually or by semester. Fees are inclusive of experiental learning program fees, tests, material fees, insurance. A full semester payment is due in advance for attendance in a given semester. Students who enroll mid-semester are invoiced on a pro-rata (month-by-month) basis. If starting School from the 1st - 15th of the month, basic tuition fees (as above) will be calculated for one month. If starting School after the 15th of the month, basic tuition fees (as above) will be calculated for half a month. The basic tuition fees (as above) will be divided by 10 months.
Families with two or more children, or students who are CIEO graduates, can enjoy a 5% discount off on basic tuition fees (excluding other fees such as ELL support, uniforms, boarding, bus, and meals).
