As the Head of School at the Canadian International School of Guangzhou (CIS), I would like to thank you for visiting our website. Having joined CIS in May 2024, I can already attest to the warm and welcoming nature of our school community, where every member is supported in their pursuit of goals. Our dedicated staff focuses on guiding each child and their parents through their educational journey, from early childhood education (ECE) to high school graduation.
At CIS, we are committed to developing socially responsible, lifelong learners who can solve problems, think critically, and make positive contributions to both local and global communities. We challenge all students from ECE through to Grade 12 by providing enriching learning experiences across the curriculum, along with a wide array of co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities. Through a diverse and rigorous academic program—including the Alberta Curriculum, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), and Advanced Placement (AP) courses—our students are empowered to learn today so they can lead tomorrow.
CIS is proud to be the first Alberta (Canada) accredited international school in China, offering the highly regarded Alberta Curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our graduates earn the Alberta High School Diploma, recognized by leading universities worldwide. Students aged 3 to Grade 5 benefit from the inquiry-based IB PYP, while our high school students have the opportunity to pursue AP courses through The College Board (US). The IB PYP framework shapes how our teachers plan, teach, and assess, while AP courses provide university-level academic challenges within the high school setting. Pursuing AP courses ensures that CIS students are exceptionally well-prepared for post-secondary education.
