CIS Students Achieve Outstanding AP Results in Inaugural Year of AP Program

Canadian International School of Guangzhou (CIS) is proud to celebrate a year of exceptional achievement in the Advanced Placement (AP) program, with high school students demonstrating outstanding academic performance across AP Physics 1, AP Seminar, and AP Microeconomics.

A total of 24 CIS high school students completed 39 AP examinations during the 2025-2026 academic year, achieving an overall average AP score of 3.8 out of 5. Even more impressively, 69% of all AP exams earned scores of 4 or 5, while 31% of all exams earned perfect scores of 5, reflecting a strong culture of academic excellence and university readiness.

These achievements are particularly significant because the 2025-2026 academic year marked the launch of the CIS AP Program, making this group the school's first-ever AP cohort. Their success has established a strong foundation for future students and demonstrates the effectiveness of CIS's commitment to rigorous, university-level learning opportunities.

CIS students also significantly outperformed global averages in every AP course offered.

AP at CISA Program on the Rise

The success of CIS's inaugural AP cohort marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the school's academic journey. During the 2025-2026 school year, CIS offered three AP courses. Building on the strong results achieved in its first year, the school will significantly expand its AP program for the 2026-2027 academic year, increasing from 3 AP courses to 10 AP courses.

Administered by the College Board, the AP Program provides students with the opportunity to undertake rigorous university-level coursework while still in high school. Strong AP performance can enhance university applications and, in many cases, earn students advanced standing or university credit.
