The globally celebrated Maker Faire is back at CIS! On April 18, the CIS campus was buzzing with excitement, energy, and creativity as the world-class Maker Faire kicked off for students aged 1-15.
Robots moved with ease, 3D printers built a future city model, and numerous CIS makers showcased their unique skills, sharing their dreams with like-minded peers. Here are just some of the many highlights!
Originating in San Francisco in 2006, Maker Faire quickly became a global phenomenon, celebrated as a family-friendly festival of invention and creativity that involves both adults and children. It's a grand gathering of technology enthusiasts, craftsmen, educators, artisans, engineers, and artists, offering children unique opportunities to engage with and experience the wonders of 3D printing, robotics, scientific experiments, AR/VR experiences, and drones. CIS is honored to have been officially authorized to host this renowned STEAM event for three years.
CIS understands that maker and STEAM education is not just about teaching technology but also about fostering students' creativity and confidence. Therefore, we strive to create a vibrant and innovative community by guiding students to use their intellect to solve real-world problems, nurturing true maker spirits.
Following Stanford University's d.school design thinking principles and employing project-based learning, CIS deeply integrates maker education into our daily curriculum, allowing students to hone their skills and unleash their creativity through project presentations, speeches, and interactive workshops.
The CIS IDEALab, as a crucial hub for cultivating students' maker mindset, provides our students with the most advanced tools and equipment. Here, students can engage with cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, underwater robotics, and drones, continuously expanding their horizons and thinking through hands-on operation and exploration.
At CIS, we firmly believe that every student has unlimited potential. Through maker education, we aim to ignite more students' innovative spirits and leadership qualities, contributing greater wisdom and strength to societal development.
