As an Alberta (Canada) Accredited International School (AAIS) and IB PYP Candidate School, CIS provides the Canadian (Alberta) curriculum to all students, and follow the IB PYP framework that applies to students aged 3-12.
The Alberta Curriculum is the strongest curriculum in Canada and consistently ranks in the top 8 in the world. Graduating with an Alberta High School Diploma has opened so many doors for CIS graduates. Both the Alberta Curriculum and IB PYP framework emphasize on Inquiry-based Learning Approach, focus on innovation, creativity and critical thinking, together they equip your child with the skills and mindset to conquer all the challenges in his life and career as a global citizen.
For the 2024-25 academic year, CIS will introduce AP courses to enrich and extend the Alberta high school curriculum.
CIS has 9 high school graduating classes (Class of 2016 to Class of 2024) till now. 100% of them have graduated and are pursuing their dreams at top universities globally, including Imperial College London, University College London, University of Melbourne, University of New South Wales, University of Sydney, University of Toronto, New York University, University of Hong Kong, and more. In 2024, 100% of CIS graduates were accepted into the top 100 universities globally, with 73% into the top 50 and 58% into the top 30.
Additionally, CIS is also an SAT center, adding another advantage for our High School students when it comes to pursuing their future passions and professions in the US.
The CIS teaching team consists of highly qualified teachers certified by Alberta, with professional abilities and an average of more than 8 years of teaching experience in Canada or internationally. The Chinese teaching team all hold master's degrees.
CIS is committed to holistic education, offering core subjects including English Language Arts, Arts, Health, Mathematics, Physical Education, Music, Science, and Social Studies. Over 80 different after-school activities cover academics, languages, sports, maker culture, arts, and leadership, fully developing students’ potentials.
