China School Awards Winner!

The results of Science and Technology Award of the prestigious China School Awards (CSA) was finally revealed at an awards gala in Chengdu on February 24, and CIS is extremely proud and humbled to be recognized by CSA as China (Mainland) ’s top Science and Technology school!

The CSA, organised by the British chambers of commerce in China, are a yearly affair that brings together all those involved in providing the very best international-oriented education in schools across China (mainland) and to celebrate the exceptional work that schools continue to do in spite of extremely challenging circumstances. A fair and impartial judging process was at the heart of the CSA. 

This award recognises the schools that have most successfully integrated innovative STEAM and Ed.Tech into its teaching and learning, elevating and enhancing the broadest range of learning experiences through the intelligent application of technologies.

Audited by Acclime to ensure clarity, transparency and integrity, there were more than 100 applicants this year, making it highly competitive. The process involved two rigorous stages that saw CIS submit a comprehensive application first. Once a finalist, the second stage involved a virtual conference with an independent panel of judges to discuss the merits of the application. Grade 8 student Henry Cross, Secondary Vice Principal Mr. Ted Barks, and Director of Community Ms. Lena Gidwani were part of the virtual interview, and had 12 minutes to talk about STEAM and educational technology initiatives at CIS. The culmination of the CSA saw just 10 winners in 10 categories being awarded for implementing outstanding, innovative, and inspiring initiatives.

Director of Community Ms. Lena Gidwani, who represented CIS at the China School Awards, could barely contain her excitement as she went on stage to accept the Science and Technology Award!

Vice Principal Mr. Ted Barks, who is also CIS’ STEAM Lead, proudly said,

When we first applied for the China School Awards, it was never our intention to win. We simply wanted to share all the good work that our students and staff at CIS have been doing, and to celebrate our achievements in the wide field of science and technology. Indeed, we’re humbled by the immense recognition of our efforts, and we could not be any prouder."
