Learning from Professionals: Esteemed Musical Mentors
Dr. Hongjia Cui, a distinguished international Chinese conductor based in Germany, was our guest conductor for the day. He currently serves as the Principal Conductor of the Louis Spohr Kammerorchester. “The passion and talent of all the students is truly inspiring.I hope they will remember the happiness of today, and keep loving music!” Mr. Cui commented on his experience at the event.
We were honoured to welcome four esteemed music professors to our campus for this special event.
Students also got the chance to sharpen their instrumental skills with talented professors from Xinghai Conservatory of Music and Southern China Normal University.
CIS established a partnership with Xinghai a few years ago, allowing our students to learn from professional musical players every week on campus. (Click to read more about our partnership with Xinghai.) "The collaboration between CIS and Xinghai has always been rewarding, both to Xinghai and CIS students,” said Professor Sun.
Music has no Boundaries
It was an exciting day for participating students to learn from their peers and make new friends! "It was so nice to finally visit and collaborate with other schools after 3 years of COVID," said Ms. Chu, band teacher from TIS Macao.
This event highlighted the importance of collaboration and teamwork, offering our students a unique opportunity to learn from accomplished musicians and their peers. "Being able to perform under the guidance of such an experienced conductor is something I will never forget," shared one of our student participants.
As the host school, CIS was very proud to showcase our commitment to providing enriching learning opportunities for our students and share our passion with all fellow schools. These types of events are a testament to our strong music program, dedicated faculty, and our ongoing efforts to engage with the broader educational and artistic community.
A Symphony of Collaboration and Learning
“The incredible conductor and all the students really came together and made it a beautiful celebration like no other. We hope to give our students an opportunity to do this in the future, over and over again. Thank you to all the participating students, guests, teachers, and of course our amazing audience!” said Mr. Anderson, Grade 6-12 music teacher at CIS and the organizer of this event.
