Dear CIS Families, It is our honor and a pleasure to welcome you to the 2023 – 2024 school year! I hope you all had a relaxing and fun summer break. I am extremely proud to serve as the Principal of this amazing learning and teaching community for the 4th year and to continue to support the students, teachers and staff of CIS! CIS’s theme this year is “BE A PART FROM THE START”. This new school year brings the promise of a renewed dedication, focus, and energy to our goal of purpose-driven teaching and learning in an academically-excellent community that is committed to all-rounded, holistic success, be it in core subject areas, sports, music, STEAM, etc. We have witnessed unparalleled success year-on-year as our students graduate and head to top 100 universities around the world. Our objective this year is to ensure that each and every single person at CIS is working towards our core values, mission, vision and goals from the get go! With that said, the CIS community are ready to kick this year off in true Grizzly fashion! I would like to welcome all of our new families, whether you are joining us from another school in Guangzhou or have relocated from another city or country. We are excited to share all that CIS has to offer with you and believe you will soon feel as we do, that CIS is truly a special place for all children. Our dedicated staff at CIS has been working tirelessly to finalize classes and schedules, fine-tune our action plans, engage in professional learning opportunities during this week and next, and update class routines and expectations, all with the goal of fostering academic success. Our teachers are eager to meet their students and begin this year’s journey with them. Additionally, we will continue placing a focus on the integration of UN SDGs into our lessons, community-building techniques, competition-based activities, and social and emotional support strategies into our students’ daily school experience. We will work together to further develop a solid foundation for our students so that they have multiple opportunities to become self-directed learners, collaborative teammates, critical thinkers, and responsible global citizens. We will be holding our traditional, in-person, Back-to-School Curriculum presentations in September. While in your child’s classroom, your child’s teacher will present an overview of the year’s instructional program, schedules, resources, and expectations for the coming year. Please be sure to check our class groups and our social media channels as it contains important information about these upcoming events. I look forward to continuing our partnership of providing your children and family with an effective and engaging educational experience. As always, we will look to our parents/guardians to be positive and collaborative partners in your child's academic journey. Please consider contributing to the CIS School Council too. More information as to how parents can be involved will be sent soon. Join us in ensuring the success of all CIS students.
