CIS Talks

At CIS, we believe in the immense benefits of a holistic, lifelong learning community, bringing teachers, parents, students and the wider community together for a more meaningful and far-reaching learning experience. So, how do we put this into practice?

CIS is excited to present ‘CIS Talks’, an all-rounded parent workshop and activity series for both CIS and non-CIS families. We know that diverse perspectives and continuous knowledge from both teachers, peers and parents will continue to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and learner attributes/profiles necessary for current and future success, although how we accomplish this will be different for each child in each division.

If you want to understand the ins and outs of an international curriculum like Alberta, the IB PYP framework, and more;

If you want to develop practical strategies and skills to support your child academically, and from a behavioral/social emotional, communication, mental perspective;

If you want to build stronger connections with your child’s teachers, EA, and their support system here at school;

Or you just want to get to know other parents at CIS...

Then, CIS Talks is for you!

CIS Talks is an informative series will cover practical topics from curriculum systems, university applications, pastoral care, teenage psychology, how to analyze report cards and help your child at home, and other insights to help expand both knowledge and skills. These talks will be presented by professionals at CIS or our trusted partners.

If you’re an ECE to Grade 5 family and/or new to PYP, our very first session has been customized just for you! On September 14th and 15th, you’ll have the chance in an engaging and informative workshop with Ms. Shirley, our passionate IB PYP Coordinator, to learn about:

- An overview of the IB PYP framework and its benefits

- Learner profiles and its role in shaping students' development

- Practical strategies to support your child's inquiry-based learning at home

Join us to delve into the exciting world of PYP learning, connect with fellow parents, and meet our dedicated educators. This is also the perfect opportunity to ask any questions about the PYP at CIS!

CIS Talks are open to BOTH CIS and non-CIS parents for FREE unless specifically noted. Feel free to bring your family members or friends! It’s always beneficial to have family members on the same pace (and place!) as you when it comes to your child’s education, be it from a philosophical point of view or just when it comes to staying consistent and maintaining good habits.
