Why is teamwork important? How can the power of teamwork lead to collaborative wins? Watch this short video to see how our students produced innovative solutions to complex problems and worked efficiently toward shared goals!
Over the last three months, 2 teams of 8 students in Grades 4-8 participated in a global STEAM competition, among 6 other teams in South China. The theme of this year’s FIRST® LEGO® League Competition is ‘Cargo Connect’. Students had to design, assemble and test their LEGO robots to deliver packages and complete certain tasks along the way. They learned about how cargo is transported, sorted, sanitized and delivered to its destination, and showcased their teamwork as they built a product for the future of transportation. In the COVID era, this non-touch delivery solution is much more meaningful than ever.
How Does Robotics Teach Students Teamwork? Learning robotics inspires a lifetime love of collaboration, learning, creativity and logical reasoning. It also provides the technical and interpersonal skills that all young people need to meet future workforce demands and to solve what could be the world’s next big problems. Through STEAM learning at CIS, core competencies are developed, which help nurture every student’s potential to be a leader, an innovator and an inspiration while becoming the critical thinkers and creative problem solvers of tomorrow. Remember, talent may win a challenge, but teamwork wins championships! FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children ages 4-16 through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experience through a guided, global robotics program, helping today's students and teachers build a better future together.
