Student Principal for a Day
Leaders aren’t born – they become leaders through experience and opportunity. Young people need genuine opportunities to test drive what it feels like to be in the leader’s seat.
Recently, three students at CIS got a chance for a practical lesson in leadership that they won’t forget! Imagine a young person at the helm of their school as ‘Student Principal for a Day'. What would they do? What would they discover? What insights would they give the “real” principal? We caught up with our Elementary ‘Student Principal of a Day’ Eva Cross, who spent the day with Ms. Gabriela Valla.
Eva Cross: Elementary Student Principal for a Day
After a "behind the scenes" school tour, Eva proposed to add a seesaw to our play facilities, chose the menu for next week, had a nice meal with our principals, and to make it really educational, she taught a writing class in Grade 4!

“Student Principal for a Day” was coordinated by CIS Parent Advisory Council (PAC) to help the CIEO Charity Foundation fundraising efforts. Three lucky winners (one for ECE, one for Primary, and one for Secondary) were picked by Mr. Gary Rehman, Mr. Ted Barks and Ms. Gabriela Valla, from a lucky draw of all participants. All money raised was donated to charity. Special thanks to all our participants!
