CIS Annual Curriculum Night

Canadian International School of Guangzhou 2021-09-11

Why does CIS follow the highly rigorous Alberta (Canada) Curriculum?

What will my child learn this year?

How can I support my child's learning?

Are there any extra-curricular activities after school?

At the start of every school year, these are the most frequent questions asked by parents.

At CIS, we want to ensure that our families have a thorough understanding of the highly rigorous Alberta Curriculum. Our Curriculum Night was a chance for parents and students to truly get to know the ins and outs of what we do here at CIS.

From September 8 to September 9, CIS families gathered on campus to meet their homeroom/subject teachers, and to listen to the principal’s speech at close range at W-Hall. They learnt about the Alberta Curriculum and listened to information about extracurricular activities. With the profession of CIS teachers, our world-class Alberta Curriculum and a strong school community, the 2021-2022 school year will definitely be another amazing year for everyone at CIS.

Afterwards, CIS families met the head teacher/subject teacher at their informative classroom sessions. Through the teacher’s interactive presentations, families learnt more the learning goals of this academic year and this year’s timetables.

Under the repeated epidemic situation, the number of attendees did not decrease. This moved us tremendously, and strengthened our determination to do a good job in epidemic prevention and safety. Compared with last year, we finally decided to extend the Curriculum Night from one night to two nights, and to make it a parent-only event. This not only protected our health and safety, but also allowed the parents to fully understand CIS.

At the CIS Main Lobby, the first day of the Curriculum Night is exclusively for kindergarten and elementary school, and the second day is for students and parents in the middle school and high school. The purpose of these curriculum events is for families to establish a preliminary understanding and cognition of the Alberta Curriculum. Parents can also see the specific teacher team and curriculum settings, and experience the school and classroom environment that their children will study in.
