Following this, he completed his teaching and master’s degrees from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. While his initial degree is in elementary education, he has taught in both elementary and secondary schools and has served as an administrator with students from Pre-school to Grade 12. Mr. Croy joins CIS with a wealth of Canadian and international experience in Vancouver, Hong Kong, and Guangzhou for nearly 15 years, spanning K-12 education, leadership, and a deep commitment to fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment. As an educational leader, Mr. Croy has implemented several curriculums, including honors courses, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and IB programmes.
Throughout his illustrious leadership career, Mr. Croy has demonstrated a passion for student success, staff development, and community engagement, which aligns closely with the mission and values of CIS, and will inject a powerful momentum into the future growth of the school.
Upon joining CIS, Mr. Croy expressed his eager anticipation and enthusiasm.
“I am extremely excited to join the CIS community. What drew me to the school was the combination of the Alberta curriculum and the fact that it is set within the international community of Guangzhou. I am eager to return to my roots as an Albertan. My formative years were spent in southern Alberta where I received a great start in life. I had excellent teachers and a tremendous opportunity to be challenged through a range of rich extracurriculars in the arts, athletics, community service, and leadership. To the students and community of CIS, I am committed to ensuring that we continue to provide a challenging educational programme that is enriched throughout outstanding extra-curricular opportunities. I am truly looking forward to successfully leading CISGZ to the future, and I can’t wait to meet all the students, staff and families at CISGZ.”
Mr. Croy believes in giving back. He has mentored principals and heads of school for several years and served on the board of the Independent Schools Association of British Columbia. He continues to serve in Asia as a mentor for administrators in the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) and the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS).
On a personal level, Mr. Croy has two children that are the product of independent schools in Canada and Hong Kong. They will both be attending University of British Columbia this fall, in first and fourth years.
