Technology has permeated all facets of our lives and our students need to be fully prepared for the digital futures ahead of them. It’s only natural that CIS embraces the role that technology will play in enriching their learning experience.
In September 2017, CIS introduced our own technology program which invited our students in grades 4-12 to bring their own device (BYOD) to school as another tool for learning.
What is one-to-one? It means that students bring their own device to school for educational purposes. Students are usually experts with the device they have and can customize it to their learning needs. The technology, combined with expert instruction from skilled staff, creates an environment where students are further engaged in their learning and this will lead to further student success. Technology has the ability to enhance relationships between teachers and students. When teachers effectively integrate technology into subject areas, they become advisers, content experts, and coaches. Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. BYOD programs allow students greater ease in collaborating with their peers and they can use their devices for learning anytime and anywhere.
CIS wants to ensure our students are technology leaders and fully prepared to enter post-secondary institutions and the work force, where knowledge and understanding of technology is paramount to success.
CIS will continue to have technology suites, iPads and laptops available for all students to use in our learning commons and technology labs. Our students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 will continue have school-based technology for their usage inside in the classroom.
