In just two weeks we will open our beautiful campus for the start of the 2020-2021 School Year. The planning and procedures we have put into place for a safe return include a deep clean of our classrooms and campus which continues to make CIS a safe place to teach and learn. We welcome everyone back from all of their summer activities. It is time to get ourselves back to the routine of school and the hard work that follows.
Some parents have asked and many parents may wonder at how we will continue our mission to Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Education Bureaus in Guangzhou and Panyu along with the CDC in Guangzhou continue to guide our practices in keeping our campus safe for our return to school.
For our students in Guangzhou, we are very happy that all students will have face to face learning with our professional teaching staff. While we await our new teachers to arrive, our students on campus will begin the year fully engaged in our classrooms with our highly skilled returning teachers. For our students still overseas, we have offered GOAL (Grizzly Online Academic Learning) to keep them learning until they can join us on campus.
Each of our classrooms runs the ATMOS AIRÓ air purifier system which recent scientific tests have concluded remove 99.32% of the bacteria and viruses in the air (including COVID-19) in 30 minutes.
NO VISITORS ON CAMPUS AT THIS TIME
Our school year will begin much like the last one ended. Parents/Visitors will not be allowed on campus during the operational school day. Parent drop off and pick up at the front gate will continue to start the year.
Our school day begins at 8:30 and ends at 3:05. The After School Activities (ASAs) will run until 4:00. Bus students will then board buses and parents can then pick up their student at 4 PM at the front gate.
We are looking to safely begin the year and our start to the school year is outlined below. The staggered starts allows for a safe and healthy entry for all of our students as we will bring students into the school in smaller groups. We will be repeating the COVID safety instructions like hand-washing for all of our students on these first few days. A summary of some important dates follow.

The Government has sent out a notice alerting us to be aware of certain areas in China that are considered medium and high risk areas for the virus. If you travelled to any of these areas over the summer, the government is asking that you quarantine for 14 days before you send your child back to school. Please read the information carefully and follow the directives outlined in the letter.
We continue to prepare and get our school year and our school campus ready to accept your wonderful children. We wish you a restful few weeks and we look forward to seeing you later in August.
