Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to our graduation ceremony. My name is Ben Chen and it is my honor to be the salutatorian of graduates.
Time passes so quickly; three years flew by in an instant for most of us. It is too fast. It feels like just yesterday I was a grade 10 student. Despite the speed of its passing, I am pretty sure the memory of these three years will never fade. I met such good people here at CIS.
Ben X – you are the best joker and stickers producer at CIS.
Elec – the best basketball player and surprise maker I ever met.
Joanne – I am sure you will be a good teacher because you have such good skills in teaching language.
Michael – a powerful debater and the king of knowledge.
Mark – I never realized you are such an interesting person until we talked video games.
Paolo – please remember Paolo Zhang. You will see him again in some famous music programs or hear his songs.
Valen – the only person I know who likes to stay with children after school.
Vivian – you are the master of makeup and design which you already showed us during the drama project.
Wendy – a person from Hong Kong who has Beijing accent, and the best comic actor in CIS.
Although the number of people in this classroom had always changed, the spirit of co-operating and friendly is still staying in here. It’s pure as a child, and one of the most valuable thing for everyone. A special thank you to Ms. Liao and Ms. Gu; we could not run student council so well without you. Finally, last but not least, thank you to all the teachers and staff at CIS. We appreciate your hard work over the years.
Since I was a child, I often thought about one thing: what is waiting in the future? Can I be the kind of person I am expected to be? Until now, I have avoided this question, but I realized I already have the answer. The future just like a mountain. A quest to climb begins with a single step. If you do not take this step due to fear or apprehension, then you will never know what is waiting on another side.
Graduation is one of the steps we need to climb upon our individual mountains. What comes after may scare us, but if we do not try to keep climbing then we definitely regret it for the rest of our lives. Be not afraid of the steps you need to take to achieve your goals: Paolo wants to be a musician, BenX and Wendy both want to be a business people, Michael wants to be a game designer, Elec and Mark both want to be programmers, Vivian wants to be a fashion designer, Valen and Joanne both want to be teachers. We all choose our own path, and when we all reach the summit, I, a film director in the future, will record our journey and see you again in the light future!
Thank you so much!
