Lanterns, fans, Pipa songs, calligraphy and plenty more…
The Mid-autumn Festival celebration was in full swing today at the CIS campus!
As one of the most important festivals in China, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family reunion. For an international school like CIS, it is also an important time to celebrate our cultural roots and honor the traditions of our host country.

Cultural celebrations have always been a major part of the CIS Mandarin Curriculum, from Chinese New Year performances and mooncake making, to the popular Chinese Songs Talent Show. Our Mandarin teaching team have always found many creative ideas to make learning about Chinese culture easy and fun!

This Friday, our Mid-Autumn Culture Celebration started with student performances in W Hall. Five amazing performances were presented by our talented students, featuring Chinese songs, traditional instruments like Guzheng and Pipa, and a mesmerizing fan dance.
Keen to showcase the many traditional arts and crafts of China, the Mandarin team set up six cultural activity stations: Lantern riddles, Calligraphy, Paper Art, Fan Painting, Sugar Art and Ceramic Painting. Students who managed to complete the activities won points for their houses. The school lobby was filled with excitement and joyful laughter throughout the day.

The Mid-Autumn Holiday is just days away. CIS wishes all families a relaxing and cherished holiday with your beloved family. It has been a year full of challenges and we are indeed blessed to be able to celebrate this festival with everyone. Do take the time out to enjoy a nice meal and bond with your loved ones over mooncakes, laughter and togetherness.
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to one and all!
