Canadian International School of Guangzhou is very pleased to launch its new Gratitude Project. Students will be journaling daily about what they are grateful for. This is a year long project, and along with journaling, we will hold ongoing school-wide activities to support acts of kindness, gratefulness, and positivity.
Practicing gratitude is research-proven to improve a person’s health and happiness. Schools have seen a vast improvement in positive and empathetic behaviour at their school once a gratitude program is implemented.
Ms. Morgana (Grade 2 teacher at CIS), from Canada has brought this project to CIS through her connections to the non-for-profit organization, Grateful Peoples. This magical connection began through a random act of kindness that happened in Nairobi, Kenya, it kept going around the world, to Abu Dhabi, UAE; Cairo, Egypt; Brazil; Mexico; and then finally to Grateful Peoples in New York, USA.
Now we find Grateful Peoples thoughtfulness and generosity here in Guangzhou, China, with a donation of 400 gratitude journals to our students here at CIS!In total they have donated a total of 12,000 journals in four countries since 2016. It is Grateful Peoples aim to spread the idea of gratitude as a positive life-changing tool that can help young people all over the world.
At CIS, we launched this project with a school wide assembly, we talked about what gratitude means to everyone, and students from G1-G12 got a diary of their own! We’ll continue to record the this project, stay tuned for CIS Wechat for more grateful moments!
