Last week, we announced that our very own Grade 12 Student, Mark Wang,, received a conditional acceptance to the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia.

As a Top 5 ranked university in Australia, and ranked as the 48th most reputable university in the world according to the QS World Universities Ranking 2019, UQ is known for its strong research centre in biotech and life sciences. University of Queensland’s notable alma mater include two Nobel Laureates (Peter C. Doherty and John Harsanyi) and approximately one hundred Rhodes Scholars among its alumni and staff. UQ notable alumni also include the Australia’s first female Governor-General Quentin Bryce, and the current President of the University of California San Francisco, Sam Hawgood.
CIS is extremely proud of Mark’s accomplishment and we’re happy to have supported and witnessed a great student grow into a confident learner. With our internationally recognized curriculum and a dedicated guidance department, CIS opens countless doors to our students, and our students can be confident applying to Universities anywhere in the world.
“My teachers offered both curriculum support and personal support throughout my high school journey. Graduation is a culmination of a successful high school career. My teachers are approachable and available after hours to answer questions or address concerns. “
His Teacher says:
I’ve been teaching Mark for 2 years now. He’s always been strong in math, but this year he has been more well balanced, not just relying on his natural abilities, but using them to grow in new ways. Rather than just stoping at the ability to do it, he has been looking for ways to understand and internalize what he’s learning.
Queensland is a good university, they are not just looking for someone who can do well in just one course, they are looking for someone who is more well rounded in several of his academic courses. I wish him all the best in Queensland. He is a good student and a good person. He is fun to be around and good to joke with.
CIS Supporting :
At CIS, our graduates benefit from close relationships with their teachers which means recommendation letters are available upon request. On top of this, we provide individual application consulting to every high school student.
The guidance department instructs students in the application process and connects them with a tool called MyPass. MyPass is a program offered to students in Alberta accredited schools that grants access to their academic history, personal information and official transcripts. Once connected, students can distribute their information to potential universities quickly and efficiently.
We look forward to hear more good news of our amazing graduates in coming months!
